Project summary:
The houses have a playful character due to the sculptural design with niches, protrusions and views. The environment is involved in the design by being partly built in a hill. This creates between the houses in hills, making it seem as if the landscape enters the house. Because of the views through the terraces you see the courtyard and vice versa. Due to the specific placement of windows, the landscape is framed and appears living painting from the home. The swimming pond comes up to the house, which means that you are literally on the water lives and you step into the swimming pond, or step on in the winter.
It's summer. About 26 degrees. The van Beek family enjoys their shady terrace on the water, which you can reach from theliving room. The youngest child splashes in the swimming pond which is filtered through in a natural wayaquatic plants. The eldest daughter is on top of the semi-shared roof terrace with the neighbor girls. The terrace issun-drenched and the perfect place to gather for a cozy BBQ with the neighbors. Because the courtyard isthe living floor, which is located on the 1st floor of the house, is elevated, flush with the inner garden and comesthere is a lot of light inside.
Despite this, it is not warm inside because the roof terrace floats above the houses (Tropicalroof) and thus creates shadow on the roof surface. The inner garden feels like a green oasis because of the plantsattracts different fauna. Birds, bees, dragonflies. They come to the hanging plants around the roof terrace, the waterand nest in the tree. Mr van Beek comes home from shopping. He drives the car slowly over itcart path that opens up the house in the park-like environment with many trees. Children from the neighborhood are in front of the doorlooking for insects and other bugs in the grass.
He parks the car under the canopy and turns thehouse inside. Downstairs are the bedrooms that have a view of the surroundings. It's cool in the bedroom.Once upstairs, Mr. van Baak and his wife will cook on the energy of the solar panels with a viewon the swimming pond and the surrounding area.
